The challenge

The plant has its own photovoltaic installation, but with a restriction that completely changes the problem to be solved: it cannot feed surplus energy back into the grid. Every solar kWh that is not consumed immediately and is not stored is simply lost.

• Solar curtailment: any photovoltaic surplus that is neither consumed nor stored has nowhere to go. It isn't sold, it isn't utilized, it just disappears.‍
• Contracted power penalties: demand spikes in a meat processing plant operating continuously generate avoidable extra costs if power is not managed in real time.‍
• Uncompensated reactive energy: without a system to control it, this generates additional penalties on your bill.

The solution

BeePlanet Factory integrates a BESS system Sungrow PowerTitan with 2.5 MW and 5,015 kWh, coordinated with the photovoltaic plant and factory demand using BHive® and its optimization layer.

• BHive® EMS: real-time monitoring and control of the installation, 24/7.
• BeePlanet Optimizer: decides every 15 minutes when to charge and discharge the battery based on energy prices (OMIE), forecasted consumption, and battery degradation—rather than using a fixed strategy.
• Reactive power compensation: maintains cos φ > 0.95 using the BESS inverter itself, without additional equipment, eliminating that penalty from the bill.
• Integration with Sungrow PowerTitan: the battery is coordinated with the photovoltaic system and the factory's actual demand, rather than being managed in isolation.
