The Challenge

Overcoming power limitations to offer ultra-fast charging

In a context where electric vehicle (EV) users demand charging power above 100 kW to reduce waiting times, the Miralbueno Service Station faced a significant challenge::

⚡Grid connection limited to 100 kW
🏢 Station consumption: 40 kW
🔌 Only 20 kW available per hose for EV charging

To install a 180 kW charging point, it was necessary to implement a solution that could::

  • Overcome the contracted power restrictions.
  • Effectively integrate and manage both photovoltaic panels (PV) and charging points.
  • Optimize energy management to ensure continuous and efficient service.

The Solution

3-phase scalable solution

BeePlanet addressed these challenges with a modular solution that combines energy storage, intelligent management with BHive® and progressive charging capacity expansion.

📌PHASE 1: 2022 // The initial solution consisted of installing a storage system with a capacity of 100 kW and 126 kWh, accompanied by the BHive®energy manager, which centralized the management of photovoltaic (PV) generation, the 180 kW charger, and station consumption.

📌PHASE 2: 2023 // With the increase in charging demand, the storage system was expanded by adding another 100 kW and 230 kWhsystem, allowing for unrestricted 180 kW charging for users, greater optimization of available power, and a significant reduction in wait times.

📌PHASE 3: 2024 // For the installation of a second 180 kWcharger, a BCube was added® Compact 100 kW and 240 kWh, achieving efficient management of up to 360 kW at charging points.

The Results

360 kW simultaneous charging

The station upgraded from 20 kW per charger to offering simultaneous ultra-fast charging, significantly reducing wait times for EV users.

Centralized management with BHive®

Photovoltaics, storage, and charging points are monitored and controlled from a single interface, improving visibility and the operational experience.

€17,500 in annual savings

With a 7.3-year return on investment, the system combines cost savings with the elimination of grid power restrictions.

85.3% self-consumption in the first month

With over 100 charging cycles, 10.4 MWh supplied from battery storage, and 7.5 MWh charged into electric vehicles, our photovoltaic integration is now running at full capacity.
